Here are a few of my favorite scriptures on various topics.

Comfort For a Broken Heart (God is closer than you think. He longs to comfort you in the midst of your brokenness and pain.)

  1. “God is close to the broken-hearted. He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” (Psalm 34:18)
  2. “God heals the broken-hearted and bandages their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)

Healing from a Broken Heart (the process of healing requires us to take a step of faith and forgive those who have hurt us. It requires us to place our hurt in God’s hands and let Him redeem our pain rather than us taking matters into our own hands.)

  1. “Dear friends, never take revenge.  Leave that to the righteous anger of God.  For the Scriptures say, ‘I will take revenge; I will pay them back,’ says the Lord.” (Romans 12:19)
  2. “Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Jesus Christ has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32)
  3. “And don’t say, ‘Now I can pay them back for what they’ve done to me! I’ll get even with them!'” (Proverbs 24:29)

Receiving Restoration After a Difficult or Painful Experience

  1. “Life will flourish wherever the water flows.” (Ezekiel 47:9) If you think your tears don’t have power, think twice! God promises that life will be produced from the water. Your tears are made of water so each time you cry, God is springing forth life in new areas of your life.  Smile, your tears have not been wasted. 🙂
  2. “To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.” (Isaiah 61:3). (This means that for every situation, person and challenge that hurts you or brings you pain, God will replace, restore and renew those areas of your heart.  He will bring new people into your life who value you and love you.  He will remove those who hurt you.  He will bring you joy for the things that you caused you to be sad and depressed. He will restore every area of your life with beauty. When others see you, they won’t see your scars–they will only see the crown of beauty that God has placed upon your head. Your crown will be full of joy, peace, love and happiness).

  1. “If God is for us, who can ever be against us? (Romans 8:31) (God has your back!)
  2. “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28) (God will cause everything to work in your favor! No matter what happens, you can have confidence that God already has the solution. Be bold & be confident that God’s power is at work.)

Hope for the Future

  1. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
  2. “The vision is for a future time.  It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled.  If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place.  It will not be delayed.” (Habakkuk 2:3)

Fear of the Future

  1. “Don’t be afraid, my people.  Be glad now and rejoice, for the Lord has done great things.” (Joel 2:21) (Whatever is in front of you today may look impossible.  It may make you feel afraid but be encouraged to keep going.  Be encouraged to look beyond your fear. God has done great things in the past and He is going to do great things in the future. Be encouraged to KEEP GOING today with your hope and trust in God.)
  2. “But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying ‘You are my God!’ My future is in your hands.” (Psalm 31:14-15)

Persevering Through Difficult Seasons & Experiences

  1. “I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world.  Is there anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27) (God is for you and never against you.  Whatever you need, He can provide.  Dare to believe in Him to meet your needs.  Dare to ask God to help through your difficulty because nothing is too hard for Him.)
  2. “The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.” (Psalm 34:19)

Developing the Courage to Believe in Your Dreams

  1. “Then the Lord said to me, ‘Write the vision and make it plain, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.” (Habakkuk 2:2) (Here God instructs us to write down our goals and dreams, and post them somewhere that we can view them often, so that we can accomplish them. If you have a goal or dream in your heart that just won’t go away today is the day to take the step to make it come true. Write it down, post it up in your home and pray over each day until God gives you wisdom on how to accomplish it with His help.)
  2. “God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished” (Philippians 1:6).

How to Be Joyful In Any Circumstance

  1. “Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!” (Habakkuk 3:17-18) (Having constant joy comes from acknowledging God each and every day–good days and bad days. It comes from finding something to thank God for even in the midst of your most challenging and painful experience.  When you do this, you develop the ability to have the kind of joy that can endure and withstand anything.)
  2. “Your love has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God’s people.” (Philemon 1:7) (We receive joy from reminding ourselves of God’s love for us.  We also receive joy from being kind to others even when others are unkind to us, and we are struggling.)

Receiving Help From God

  1. “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for.  Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives.  Everyone who seeks, finds.  And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8)
  2. “I look up to the mountains–does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:1-2) (Never stop looking up to God. When you look to him, he provides assistance.)

Receiving Wisdom from God

  1. “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you.  He will not rebuke you for asking.” (James 1:5)
  2. “Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom.  All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom.  Praise him forever.” (Psalm 111:10)

Encouragement to Keep Going During the Rough Times

  1. “Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living.” (Psalm 27:13) (You will experience the goodness of God during your lifetime.)
  2. “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.  They will soar high on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary.  They will walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

Encouragement for Seasons of Loneliness; Persevering Through Rough Times

  1. “When you go through deep water, I will be with you.  When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown.” (Isaiah 43:2) (God will never abandon you.  He will always be with you.)
  2. “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.” (Romans 8:18) (A greater and brighter day are just ahead.  Keep believing and you will see God bring joy in the midst of your pain.)

The Power of Faith

  1. “You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.” (Matthew 21:22)
  2. “You are blessed because you believe that the Lord would do what he said.” (Luke 1:45) (God rewards your faith in Him.)

Affirmation That You’re An Overcomer

  1. “Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.  But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
  2. “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)
  3. “But you belong to God, my dear children.  You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.” (1 John 4:4)

  1. “Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.” (Psalm 62:5) (God is worth the wait.)
  2. “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think.  No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed…” (2 Peter 3:9)

  1. “Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will.  Then you will receive all that he has promised.” (Hebrews 10:36)
  2. “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good.  At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” (Galatians 6:9)

God’s Faithfulness

  1. “The Lord will personally go ahead of you.  He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)
  2. “I will never fail you.  I will never abandon you.” (Hebrews 13:5)

  1. “You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.” (Psalm 65:11) (No matter what, God will always cause things to work in your favor. He will cause His abundance to overflow in your direction.)
  2. “The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9) (God is up right now, looking to bring his strength and goodness to those who love Him.  When you are good to God, his favor comes looking for you!)

  1. “You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.” (Psalm 119:114)
  2. “Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again.  Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.” (Micah 7:8) (It’s never over until God says it’s over. Keep on believing!)

Encouragement to Be Bold

  1. “Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see.  For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you.” (Isaiah 60:1) (Here God is encouraging to stand tall and walk in the light of His glory.  Your boldness comes from shining in His glory and not your own.)
  2. “Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold.” (Proverbs 22:11) (Sometimes choosing to live for God can make us feel isolated or awkward but this scripture encourages us to continue to live boldly for God.  Each time you choose to do right, you store up treasures and blessings for yourself.)

Continue to be encouraged my friend! God loves you & His plans for your life far exceed the size of today’s challenge(s).
