First, let me begin by greeting you with
a very hope-filled & loving HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Though we are into our second month of 2016, this will be my first post of 2016!
I did the Daniel Fast throughout the month of January and consequently consecrated myself from many other things (including blogging) in order to hear from God. It was very important that I began 2016 with clarity and guidance from God because I like you, expect to see an overflow of blessings this year.
I’m happy to share that my fast concluded successfully on Monday, January 25th and now I’m back! You have no idea of how much I’ve missed blogging and interacting with my friends & readers! However, it was certainly worth the wait!
Erika The Encourager has so many wonderful things in store for 2016 and I look forward to sharing those as they unfold. Therefore today, I ask that you stand in agreement with me for God’s best and for the unimaginable. As you pray for me, I too stand in agreement for God to unfold His plan for your life. I pray that you will have clear eye sight to identify every blessing and opportunity with your name on it. I pray for the doors of goodness, favor, peace and divine connections to be unlocked in your life this year like never before. I also pray for the wisdom and discernment to follow God’s voice at all times.
My pastor has boldly declared that 2016 will be the year of ACCELERATION for our lives. I’ve grabbed hold onto that declaration and I believe the same holds true for your life. I believe that God is going to perform works in an expeditious fashion this year, that leaves no room for comparison. In fact, I believe so strongly in the promises of God, that I took time to design a large vision board for myself this year.
Generally, on the first of each year, I take time to write each goal and prayer for that year. I then, find a scripture that corresponds to that goal or prayer and I stand on it throughout the year. By standing on it, I mean that I recite it continuously throughout the year–especially when I’m tempted to get discouraged. In a way, those written goals and promises are a contract between me and God that says “God, this is my dream and here’s your promise. I’m holding you to your word to fulfill your promises” (this is a little tip I picked up from Mark Batterson’s “The Circle Maker”).
I’ve done this for years and I’ve seen God answer many of those prayers. However, this year, I decided that I didn’t just want “many prayers” answered. I want ALL of my prayers answered in 2016!
This year, I wanted to take things a bit further by actually making a visual image of my dreams and God’s promises. It’s my way of painting a picture of Habakkuk 2:2, which instructs us to “write the vision and make it plain.” Furthermore, it’s my way of keeping myself accountable to the goals I desire to achieve this year.
I can think of no better way to write the vision than to actually WRITE it on a vision board! The vision board holds me accountable to the things I’ve written, and it keeps God on notice that I’m hoping and believing in Him to perform His word.
Each morning I rise, I am greeted with a huge (poster board-sized) collage of my goals and dreams for 2016! It is adhered to the back of my bedroom door and I see it each morning as I am getting dressed. In doing so, I’ve already created an image of how December 31, 2016, will look and feel! What about you?
What are your goals for 2016?
What things are you believing God to deliver?
More importantly, what steps are you taking to ensure that your goals are accomplished?
Today, I encourage you to take a few moments to get a visual image of how you desire 2016 to look at the end of the year. Write it down, map it out and weave God’s promises into those areas. I believe that when you and I do these things, the vision stays fresh and we move one step closer to seeing our dreams realized.
Let’s boldly declare that 2016 will be the most amazing year of our lives! Let’s commit to doing our part to protect our vision. Let’s get ready for an unimaginable year of ACCELERATION!
Please keep me in your prayers and know that you are in mine.
