A Little Thing Called Confidence

While going through some documents over the weekend, I came across several posts that I had written last year.  I skimmed through the pages of my white legal pad and my eyes were drawn to a page with the word “confidence” written at the top.  While I do not know the date that I wrote the post on confidence, I do remember the things that were on my mind at the time.  I had just begun to challenge myself to say bolder prayers; and I had begun to challenge myself to believe that my greatest dreams could come to pass, if I believed in faith.

Since writing that post, many of the prayers that I prayed have been answered. I have also begun to experience the rewards of having steadfast confidence in God (Godfidence). Today, I would like to share or should I say re-share that post.  As you read it, I pray for the following things:

1) that you challenge yourself to believe in God like never before,

2) that you develop greater confidence in God instead of relying on yourself, and

2) that you challenge yourself to say a prayer of faith over your dreams each day.

In the name of Jesus, amen.

A Little Thing Called Confidence

You may not possess the qualifications to be where God has placed you.  You may not have the qualifications to go where you desire to go, but none of these things matter because God’s grace is sufficient for you.  God’s strength is perfected in your areas of weakness and His favor goes both before you, and after you (2 Corinthians 9:16).  You may think of your accolades as being small.  You may even think of yourself as someone that is small in terms of capabilities, but God has all of the confidence in the world in you.

God knows that all you need is his YES, in order to do and become the things that are in your heart.  All we need is his YES, and we will see ourselves in places that we could never imagine.  We will see ourselves doing things that we didn’t even know were possible.

My encouragement to each person is to be confident in who you are in God.  Let go of the confidence that you place in people and in things.  Be confident that you are special, one of a kind, uniquely designed, and formed with purpose.  Challenge yourself to see yourself as God sees you.  When you begin to change the way that you see yourself, you will begin to see God change the things that are in your life.

Reflection: Which areas of my life need more Godfidence?

Challenge: Write down those areas and begin to pray over them once or twice a week.  Ask God to show you how to develop more confidence in him.

Scripture:  “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay” ( Hebrews 10:35-37).

Prayer: God, I throw away the confidence that I have established in people and in things.  I throw away the confidence that tells me to rely on myself.  I place my hope and trust in you. I put on a garment of confidence that is in you.  I will see myself as nothing less than who you have called me to be.  I believe that I can do everything through you.  I am confident in you.  I am confident in your word.  I am confident that I will see your plans for my life unfold and come to pass. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Be confident in God’s plan for your life today.  God bless you.

Love,

~ETE

Thank you sis for your post today. Sometimes we don’t know our greatness and the only way to know is by fully depending on God to guide us do what we think or thought we couldn’t do or archive. Sometimes it takes changing our way of thinking and looking at ourselves from a different angle. It’s interesting knowing that some characters in the bible, at some point had name changes. Saul became known as Paul, Hoshea became Joshua, Simon became Peter and even Abram became Abraham. These characters and many others, had their names changed to corresponded to their new life or tasked from God. God has a purpose for all of us, and sometimes when we lose confidence when we don’t know how to cope with situations. It is ok for us to also change our brith or given names and adopt a spiritual name that will help boost our confidence in God. This could be our spiritual alter ego name :-). This way when we are losing confidence in the greatness of ourself, we can always be awoken or revamped by the spiritual name we have given ourselves. Whatever you need confidence to overcome you can pick out a name you like it’s meaning example if success is your goal Felix works great it mean “successful”, or for the ladies Anne means “favor”. Seeing ourselves as the image of a name its meaning you like, can serve as a reminder, help us speak life into our physical being and help us gain a positive outlook of whatever issue or confidence we are lacking!!! Ephesians 3:20 “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us”.

I love your comment! I especially love “spiritual ego!” Your illustration of our brothers and sisters in the bible is a great reminder about God’s transformation power when we allow our confidence to come from him instead of man. Thanks so much for your wisdom and encouragement! Off to think about my spiritual ego 😉
