Title: “Music in My Ears”

God’s Word informs us that the enemy is a liar.  God gets very specific about the purpose and intent of the enemy, and says that “he comes only to kill, steal and destroy” (John 10:10).  He comes to kill our hopes and dreams.  He comes to steal our joy and laughter.  He comes to destroy the blessings of God (i.e.  jobs, family, friendships, relationships and anything else from God).

When things in life are going our way it seems very easy to ignore the enemy and his schemes.  However, it always feels a bit tougher to ignore the enemy when God seems to be slow in answering our prayers.  During these times, it is so crucial that we hang onto God’s truth and ignore the lies of the enemy.  If not, we may waver in our faith and let go of our hope.

Faith is like a rearview mirror.  When you see the enemy of lies coming toward you, you can look in your rearview mirror of faith and do what is necessary to avoid a collision.  You can stay the course of faith.

God has great things in store for you and me so, let’s hang in there by ignoring these common lies of the enemy:

  1. Stop praying, God is taking too long to answer your prayers.

  2. Your way is better than God’s way; it’s probably quicker too.

  3. Your dreams are too big to come true.

  4. God will never forgive you for that (abortion, infidelity, lie, betrayal, mistake, premarital sex, etc)…

  5. You’ll never be free from that addiction.

  6. You’ll never overcome that issue.

  7. You will never experience true love, you should settle.

  8. You are a failure.  You keep repeating the same mistake.

  9. You are not good enough.

  10. You aren’t handsome. You aren’t beautiful.

  11. You’ll never be free from debt.

  12. If God loved you, you wouldn’t be sick or ill.

Isn’t it amazing how much we believe what is spoken over what is written.  God has a book of unfailing and unchanging promises but we often allow the enemy to speak to us during a moment of God’s silence.  The enemy has yet to speak one promising, fruitful word so I think it’s time for us to ignore him.  Jesus is the one who conquered the grave not the enemy.  Jesus is the one who is undefeated not the enemy.

When we know the word of God, we can easily isolate and eliminate the lies of the enemy. When we know the word of God, we can cancel out the voice of the enemy and declare what is true and good.  God’s word has been written to prepare you for victory, not failure. The next time, you hear these lies in your head call them out as the lies they are and declare one of God’s promises.

Below is a brief list of what God’s word that is true, unfailing and unchanging.

  1. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective (James 5:16).

  2. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9).

  3. No eye has seen,  no ear has heard, and no human mind has conceived–the things God has prepared for those who love him (1 Corinthians 2:9); God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we could ever ask, think or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

  4. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9); In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace (Ephesians 1:7).

  5. Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh,God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit (Romans 8:1-4).

  6. They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death (Revelation 12:11).

  7. Take delight in the Lord and he will give you your heart’s desires (Psalm 37:4).

  8. Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine (Isaiah 43:1).

  9. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you (John 15:16).

  10. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well (Psalm 139:14).

  11. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland (Isaiah 43:19).

  12. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

Reflection: Are you listening to negative voices today?

Declaration:  God’s word is unchanging and unfailing.  I will see God’s goodness while I am alive.  In the midst of drought God’s word will spring forth life.  In times of spring, God’s word will create overflow.  I declare and decree that God’s light is shining through every dark place in my heart and mind.  God’s word will not return to me void.  The enemy is defeated.  God’s word is final. I exalt Him above all things, people and circumstances today.  In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Praise God! You are one declaration closer to your blessing today!

Be encouraged =)

Yeap you hint on those lies firm and hard. Seeing them written boldly, reading, and acknowledging those words and the invisible fingers that press on the replay button in our minds and hearts is from the enemy. Let’s take the a steps to conquer all those voices of lies/bondage by unplugging those speakers. Yes we may have 99 problems and may not know what or how to solve them. When we allow God’s promises shine on our problems, we become obedient to his voice and believe in his promises given through scripture. John 20: 31 “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name”. Lord help us not be like the Israelites who did not take heed in his voice, plan and promises of God and as a result many could not make it to the PROMISED LAND. Luke 15:7-10 “I tell you, in the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need to repent. 10 In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents”. The father’s love is unfailing and our repentance overcomes sin. We can claim his promises when we let go of the deceitful voices for he died for our sins. We can claim his promises firmly with focus when we let go of guilt and lying voices!!! Thank you Erika for the eye opening post!

Amen! I love the scripture that you shared from John 20:31. It aligns itself with God’s instruction in Habakkuk 2:2, which touches on the importance of writing down our vision. There’s something about remembering what’s written versus what is spoken. When something is written it becomes a point of reference that is readily available. These scriptures are God’s encouragement to us to keep Him as our point of reference. When we do that, we can cancel the voice of the enemy immediately. When we hear it we can say “nope, that’s not what God’s word says” and keep moving forward in faith. God’s word is true and unchanging. His word will never fail. Thanks so much for sharing this scripture today sis! And glory to God for the message that He placed on my heart. It was all Him. =)

Drop me a line!
